W.L. "Buddy" Morgan

W.L. “Buddy” Morgan, 91, Russellville, Alabama passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Burns Rehab Center. Buddy was a faithful member of New Hope Church where he served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 1274 for 52 years. Buddy was known to family and friends as “Pa Buddy,” and his 91 years were marked by the love that he had for life, his family, and our Lord. Pa Buddy loved to go fishing and was always ready to make a trade for anything from a pocket knife to an old car. He celebrated each day of his life with his sweet smile and a kind word for everyone that he met, especially children. He spent 62 years married to the love of his life, the late Arleva Morgan. He was in love with her from the first time he saw her standing in a cotton patch until the morning he went to be with her in Heaven. Pa Buddy loved his children with all of his heart. He delighted in their happiness and took pride in their achievements. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with the special kind of love that only grandfathers possess. Pa Buddy loved Jesus and had accepted his as his Savior. He lived for Him everyday, praising Him joyfully through all of life’s wonderful pleasures and discouraging trials. Pa Buddy’s life was defined by love. He is loved deeply by all who knew him and he will be truly missed. His life’s work is complete and his time with us has passed. He has gone on to live forever with Heavenly Father, and he has never been more alive than he is today. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 2, 2010, 3 P.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Bro. James Anderton officiating. Burial will be in Oak grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. Survivors include children, Wavelene Morgan Robert and husband, Sonny, New Orleans, LA, Thomas David Morgan and wife, Ann, Russellville, Alice Morgan Baker and companion, Frank McGee, Russellville, Jimmy Clifford Morgan and wife, Susan, Russellville; grandchildren, Barbara Morgan Mims, Mandy Baker Shires and husband, Clay, Reform, Ala., Justin Limuel Morgan and wife, Brittney, Stephanie Mitchell Baker and husband, Will; four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Arleva Duboise Morgan; sister, Ethel Morgan Bearden. Pinkard Funeral Home will be directing.
