George Frank Hulsey

June 30, 1934 - February 11, 2022

George Frank Hulsey went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 87. Frank was born on June 30, 1934, in Haleyville, Alabama and was a 1953 graduate of Haleyville High School. His first employment was at the Haleyville Advertiser. He married Jessie West, the love of his life in 1956. Frank served for 3 years in the United States Army. Frank and Jessie then lived in Birmingham, Alabama where Frank was employed at the Birmingham News until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying softball, bowling, hunting, and fishing. Frank was a long-time member of Hillview Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Brotherhood Vice-President, and many years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher. His greatest passion was to share with everyone he met about the eternal hope that can only be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Willie A. Hulsey and Bessie Thrasher Hulsey, sisters Irene Gibson, Mary Ruth Wood, Dorothy Thompson, Peggy Bishop, and brothers James Kenneth Hulsey and Eugene Hulsey. He is survived by his wife Jessie, daughter Vicki, brothers Jimmy Hulsey, Earl Hulsey (Pat), and Donald Hulsey (Judy), and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Pinkard Funeral Home (1308 21st Street, Haleyville, AL) on Saturday, February 19 at 2:30pm. There will be no visitation and no graveside service. Masks and social distancing requested. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Barber and Rev. Randy Atkinson. Special music will be provided by Richard Metts. Pallbearers will be Lou Herring, Lance Miller, Jared Spann, Brad Taylor, Cody Wakefield, and Shane Wakefield. Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Hulsey, Earl Hulsey, Jimmy Hulsey, Warren Miller, Jerry Plummer, Marlon Wakefield, Oras Wakefield, Danny West, Gary Wood, Paul Wood, Roy Wood, and Herschel Yerby.
