Faye Nell Wooten

Faye Nell Wooten, age 86, Haleyville, AL. passed away Thursday August 20, 2026. She attended Blue Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday August 24, 2026 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. PLEASE NOTE, LOCATION AND TIME OF SERVICE Funeral service will Monday August 24th at 3:00PM at Pilot Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Vina, AL. (she will lie in state 2:30PM - 3:00PM at the church). Funeral service to follow at 3:00PM in the church, with Gary Terrell officiating. Entombment will be in the Family Mausoleum at Pilot Hill Cemetery in Vina, AL. She is survived by her children, La-Keta Wooten Crittenden, her husband Keith and Ricky Lee Wooten; grandchildren, Ryan Crittenden and Jarrod Crittenden, his wife Brandy; great grandchildren, Alyson Crittenden, Reagan Crittenden and Riley Crittenden; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Felon Terrell and Rozie Emaline Frederick Terrell; brothers, Douglas Terrell and Billy Ray Terrell; husband, Roy Wooten. Fay was the daughter of Felon and Rozie Terrell. Faye from almost birth displayed a love for music. As a small girl she was carried to the local Radio Station, where someone would turn an apple crate upside down and stand her up on it, in order for her to be able to reach the microphone to sing, as her brother played the guitar. Her mother instilled in her a love for Jesus and she began to sing in church with every opportunity given. At age 19 she married to the love of her life Roy Wooten, who devoted his life to making her happy, and spoiled her rotten. They had 2 children La-Keta and Ricky. Faye was a devoted Christian, mother, and housewife; she was a seamstress who sowed not only her children’s clothes, but also for friends and family. The family grew and the grandchildren were born. Now she devoted her time to babysitting, and helping to raise and instill Godly values in the lives of Ryan and Jarrod. Keith, La-Keta and Fay formed a gospel group, which traveled singing, adding other friends through the year, as the Faithful Servants. Her greatest joy was singing, it was as if God had simply planted a song bird in her heart at birth. Now, as the family continued to grow, another wonderful addition was added when Jarrod married Brandy, and helping to raise the great grandchildren Alyson, Reagan, and Riley, now also became her top priority. She was a wonderful cook who made countless chicken casseroles, and banana puddings to carry to others in the community, and even when her memory failed, and she forgot how to make them, and what went into the recipes, her devoted husband Roy would continue to cook, and allow her to receive the praise, always making sure to never call attention to the fact her memory was beginning to slip away. He helped her to make special cookbooks for each of her family, watching as she drew and colored pictures with handwritten recipes she created, and had collected through the years in order to pass them on to her loved ones; hoping and praying the activity would help to slow down the progression of this dreaded thief, which slowly stole away the memories of a lifetime. The only good thing about this dreaded disease was the fact she didn’t seem to remember when Roy passed away. This could only be a gift from God, not remembering such a loss. Even though she might not remember the names of the ones who loved her, she continued to know the Love of a smile, and the joy of laughter, she added to the lives of all those who cared for her in the years to follow. In a rare moment of clarity, she enjoyed her final church service at the nursing home only days before God would call her home. She enjoyed the music, not able to remember the words, but kept the beat and the rhythm of the song until the end, then lifted her hands and let out a shout of praise. God allowed those around to witness her undying love for her Savior. Years of sitters at home, and the devoted staff of Terrace Manor Nursing Home, remark of fond memories of how Faye made them laugh, her cunning personality, and her spicy attitude. Never did she allow the disease to steal her personality, or her love of Glitter, Bling, and Shiny Jewelry, as they daily dressed her up in all her glitz and glamour to the very end as they nicknamed her Fancy Faye. The family would like to Thank the Staff of Terrace Manor Nursing Home and North Alabama Hospice for the excellent care for Mom.
